In 1959, Leslie Spencer opened one of the first A&W Rootbeer Drive-In’s in the Sacramento area. While running the drive-in, he discovered a love for bookkeeping and owning his own business. So in 1965 he made a big decision to switch careers and open Spencer’s Business Services. He then started Spencer’s Business Service in a small office in his garage. In 1968 he moved the business to Roseville where it’s still thriving today.

His daughter, Charlene, was the Administrative Manager at a restaurant in La Jolla Southern California. She decided she like bookkeeping as well and moved back home to Roseville to learn the family business. She worked full-time with her dad until starting a family of her own, when she continued part-time. Over the years, she continued taking on more responsibility at the office.

At the age of 84, Les finally retired. His granddaughter, Blaire, was working at Edward Jones and had gotten two of her three securities licenses to become a financial advisor. Try as she might, the pull of the family business was too strong and she joined her mom Charlene. She became a registered tax preparer and has been working in the tax field for over 10 years.

In 2024, the office was feeling a bit lonely so Piper 🐕was brought on as Chief Morale Officer. She specializes in client happiness and treat compliance.
